Why the 18650 body?

A handheld is the most versatile light a professional carries. It works on its own, alongside a pistol, or as backup when a weapon light goes down. This is the full-size 18650 handheld, offered with either the PLHv3 or the OKWv2 head.

The 18650 body is the choice when runtime matters more than pocket size. It runs about 75 minutes on high against the 18350’s 35, and it accepts 2× CR123 as an alternate fuel when you cannot recharge. The trade is length: it is longer than the 18350, so it carries larger.

The current handheld ships with the Multi-Mode head. It is user-programmable between two output modes: high, for full output, and admin, at 15% of high for reading, close work, and admin tasks.

For the smallest carry, both heads are also offered on the shorter 18350 body.

PLHv3 or OKWv2

The OKWv2 produces 200 fewer lumens than the PLHv3 and roughly half again the candela. It concentrates more of a smaller total into the hot spot. The PLHv3 spreads more of a larger total across a wider area.

The OKWv2. A tighter hot spot that reaches further, stays visible when other lights are in use, and is less prone to washout. Consider it for window tint, for the added throw behind a magnified optic, and if you prefer a tighter, brighter beam.

The PLHv3. A well defined hot spot with good spill, for those who prefer the added visibility. Consider it for a broader use as a great overall light beam and light profile.

Output and runtime

High mode runs full output. Admin mode lowers to 15% of high, a low usable light that saves your night vision and your battery. On a rechargeable 18650, expect about 75 minutes on high and about 10.6 hours on admin, either head.

The head is dual-fuel: it runs one 18650, or 2× CR123. A single CR123 will not power the head.

A note on finish

Finish is a Type III hardcoat, a chemical process, so color can vary slightly from one part to the next, even within a batch. This is most visible on FDE. Modlite matches parts as closely as possible, but minor variation between sections of the light is normal and not a defect.
