FUEL is a newer offering built around the Unity GASCAP tailcap. The connection for the USB-C is on the side using the LINK remote standard by Unity. It features a full-size button on the back with momentary on by light pressure, full depress for clicky constant on.
Modlite states the GASCAP provides near-zero loss output, older switch circuitry was built for lower-current lights and does not pass through full current to the light head.
The mount is sold separately. Modlite ships these without one so you can pick the mount that fits your rail and light position preference.
The 18350 is the short body. At 3.5″ and 4.2 oz with the battery installed, taking less rail and lower weight than the 18650.
The trade is runtime. It runs about 35 minutes. The 18650 body runtime is longer at a bit more length and weight.
Dual Fuel is a head property, not a light property. The heads on this page are Dual Fuel marked, meaning the head itself can run on an 18350, an 18650, or 2× CR123 batteries. The body sets the function for the battery use. An 18350 body takes one 18350, only. Place the same head on an 18650 body and it can use one 18650 or 2× CR123. This package is an 18350 body, so it uses one 18350. A single CR123 will not power any Modlite head on any body.
| PLHv3 | OKWv2 | |
| Beam shape | Defined hot spot, good spill | Tighter hot spot, less spill |
| Lumens | 1,500 | 1,300 |
| Candela | 60,000 | 95,000 |
The OKWv2 produces 200 fewer lumens than the PLHv3 and roughly half again the candela. It concentrates more of a smaller total into the hot spot. The PLHv3 spreads more of a larger total across a wider area.
The OKWv2. A tighter hot spot that reaches further, stays visible when other lights are in use, and is less prone to washout. Consider it for window tint, for the added throw behind a magnified optic, and if you prefer a tighter, brighter beam.
The PLHv3. A well defined hot spot with good spill, for those who prefer the added spill visibility. Consider it for a broader use as a great overall light beam and light profile.
Finish is a Type III hard coat, a chemical process, so color can vary slightly from one part to the next, even within a batch. This is most visible on FDE. Modlite matches parts as closely as possible, but minor variation between sections of the light is normal and not a defect.
These pair with the FUEL package and are sold separately, not part of it:
Modlite builds weapon lights and handhelds for professional use, made and assembled in the USA. The line is a modular system: one head mounts across handheld and weapon-light bodies and runs on a shared battery family, so a head you buy for one role carries into another. Drivers are fully potted and recoil-tested, and every head carries a lifetime guarantee.
Ships in 1 to 3 days.
